Mana: Really?? You've died doezens of times??
Yuta: A lot can happen in 500 years.
Mana: Don't you get tired of dying and then coming back so often??
Yuta: I don't do it because I like it.
Mana: This is a "cat," isn't it?? He must be all alone too.
Yuta: I suppose so.
Mana: Let's take him with us.
Yuta: Don't. He'll die soon.
Mana: He won't come back??
Yuta: No. He'll stay dead.
Mana: Can I just play with him??
Yuta: Just for a little while.
This page is about the Mermaid Forest and Mermaid Scar character Mana. Mana is usually the victem, but why I chose to add her is for her bravery and hope. Both Mermaid Forest and Mermaid Scar are very grusome, and I don't recomend them to children under 17 or people that don't like to see blood, guts, and a small bit of nudity. Other than that, go for it.
Mermaid Forest starts off in February of 1938. Yuta is searching a town for a person. He doesn't know who, but just a person like him. He ate the mermaid flesh, which is legend to give one eternal life. Wounds heal almost as quickly as you get them. But the mermaid flesh is a poison. Almost everyone who eats it dies, or becomes a lost soul, where their body is turned into a demond. Yuta is one of the lucky ones who survived. As its shown, Yuta is killed in 1938 by Japanese soldiors. Later, he returns to life and runs. Meenwhile, Towa is greatly sick. She knows that she'll not live to see spring. The docters tell her twin sister Sowa that no modern medicine can save Towa. Sowa doesn't believe that is true and goes to Mermaid hill and brings her sister mermaid blood. She basicially figured that if mermaid flesh gives you imortality, then mermaid blood should atleast help one live. Towa drinks the blood and she is struken with pain. Her right arm turns into the right arm of a lost soul. Her dog, Shiro, drinks some of the blood, and is last seen lying on the ground cringeing.
All of a sudden, the year changes to somewhere around our age. Yuta and Mana have found each other and know about how each ate the Mermaid Flesh and survived to tell the tale. Mana goes off falls off a cliff. She is found by a doctor that is searching for corpses. Yuta feels that Mana is in trouble and is led to a hospital. The doctor tells him that she left. Yuta leaves in search of her. The doctor leaves as well, but to Mermaid hill, where Towa and Sowa are found. The doctor is about to cut off Mana's arm, she wakes up, naked and cunfussed. Towa looks young and beutiful, while her sister is a wrinkled old hag. It's been at least 50 years (in anime time) that we've seen these two. We find that Mana's arm was to be used as a replacement of Towa's.
That night, Yuta comes to the home of Towa and Sowa. Towa is out for a walk yelling "Shiro! Please, find my arm!" Yuta says something and is attacked by Shiro. He's killed, so Towa thinks. Sowa and the doctor take his body and throw it off of a cliff. As he comes to, he remembers the night he ate the mermaid flesh. He didn't want it. The three men he was with did. After they killed the mermaid, they cooked it over a nice bonfire and feasted. Moments later, blood shot out of the mens mouths, eyes, and compleatly destroyed them. You can see that Yuta is freaked out. So he leaves his little flash back and goes back to the house on Mermaid Hill. There he finds Towa feading Shiro. Yuta confronts Towa and informs her that he is imortal like her. She then tells Shiro to bite off Yuta's head and eat it, and then leaves.
Towa brings Sawa, the doctor, and Mana to Mermaid hill. They go to a cave and hear a screaming voice. Mana wonders what it is aloud, but gets no answer. They go to a small opening and see a dead mermaid. Towa throws Mana down to retrieve the mermaid. While down there, she is confronted by a lost soul. Yuta then shows up as Towa gets her first glimps at a lost soul. Yuta jumps down to save Mana, and succeeds by destroysing the lost soul. Towa gets down there after and slices a peice of the mermaid flesh and tries to give it to Sawa. But before she would be forced to eat it, she dies of old age. Towa orders the doctor to burn Mermaid Hill as soon as he can. They watch it go up in flames, and Towa runs in the fire to die. The doctor follows her, adn dies as well.
